OUR GUIDED TOURS

"Il Borgo e il Colle" is responsible for:

1) guided tours for individuals and groups to the monuments of San Colombano al Lambro:

• the castle (tour time: around one hour and a half)
• the church of San Giovanni Battista
• the parish church of San Colombano abate
• the oratory of San Rocco, from outside
• the birthplace of the blessed Don Carlo Gnocchi, from outside
• the arch of Borgoratto
• the Lazzaretto
• the mineral water sources “Gerette”

2) guided tours to the Paleontological and Archaeological Museum “Virginio Caccia”

The Paleontological and Archaeological Museum “Virginio Caccia”, hosted inside the old Palazzo Patigno (now seat of the municipality), gathers precious finds, the majority of which were discovered from agricultural diggings on the hills of San Colombano. The exposed material can be seen as a fascinating reading of the evolution of the animal and plant species on the local territory. An extremely interesting thing to see is the almost complete skull of a prehistoric rhinoceros (Stephanorhinus hemitoechus).

3) guided tours for groups and schools to the hillside park (Parco Collinare) and the wineries

Winemaking was practiced in this land since the roman age. The natural feautures of the hills of San Colombano (the mix of sands and limestone, the underground rich of mineral water sources, the exposure to the sun) make this environment ideal for the cultivation of the vine. The quality of our wine has been rewarded with a protected designation of origin (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) since 1984. The "DOC San Colombano" is the label reserved to the wines which fulfil the requirements established in the regulation for red and white wines.
